What exactly is a reception hall anyways? Well it’s really just a large space that can be used to host a variety of events. It can host anything from parties, weddings or any other social event. They can often be found within hotels, clubs and restaurants. However, the term is heavily linked to marriage. A wedding reception usually follows the actual marriage ceremony. It’s meant to host all attending the wedding in good hospitability. If you’re a fan of cake, this is the place where it’s usually found. But what exactly happens in reception halls in Montreal? Let’s take a look at some of the things you can expect throughout the course of a wedding reception. After all, it can last up to about 4 hours. But you’ll see why.

  • The Cocktail Phase

Nothing gets the party started like booze. As everyone arrives or settles in, drinks start appearing in everyone’s hands as the party begins. It’s a good time to get yourself a glass of your favorite poison and get to conversing. Get started on having fun on the right note. Besides, you’ll need a bit of liquid courage for the next phase.

  • The Dance Phase

This can happen at different points of the reception. It does typically follow after the cocktail phase, as now everyone’s loosened up and ready to start dancing. If you’re not up for that, you can always just take it easy and stay seated at the table. We recognize that dancing isn’t everyone’s cup of tea. But you might be asked, so be ready.

  • The Toast Phase

This usually happens after the first course has been served. The best man gets everyone’s attention and delivers his speech. Following that is the maid of honor. Near the end, the groom usually responds to the best man for their kind words and others can also say a few words. Once all has been said, it’s time to eat.

  • The Dinner Phase

You sit down next to cool people and then you get to eat really delicious food. Once that’s over, it’s time for one of the most iconic elements of a wedding.

  • The Cake Phase

No better way to end the night other than with a sweet finale. Get yourself a nice cup of coffee, as you might be feeling a little tired from all the drinking, dancing and eating. But if you like to eat even though you really don’t have to, then go get yourself some cake. There’s always room for cake.
